did you mean this:
chromeos has a timeout for pin code unlock, after which you must enter full password.
after the timeout passes, the chromeos still shows pin entry, but doesnt accept the pin because of the timeout. then it switches from pin entry to password entry.

I believe this has been already fixed as part of a separate bug w/ fingerprint not timing out.
