kernel: Upstream drivers/hid/hid-google-hammer.c

Project Member Reported by drinkcat@chromium.org, Jan 4 2018

Issue description

We have a driver in kernel 4.4, drivers/hid/hid-google-hammer.c for hammer and derivatives, mainly to enable keyboard backlight control.

We need to make sure this driver is upstreamed eventually.

There was an attempt here but we need to follow-up, and squash in all recent CHROMIUM patches:
https://patchwork.kernel.org/patch/9941773/

I'll probably end up picking this up if noone else does.

v4 here: https://patchwork.kernel.org/patch/10281485/ . Upstream has done quite a bit of refactoring which makes the patch significantly nicer (fewer required changes in the code).
Status: Verified (was: Started)
The 2 patches have been merged upstream: https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/jikos/hid.git/log/?h=for-4.17/google-hammer
