Pixel 2 XL in VR leaves shadows / traces of content on head movement

Project Member Reported by dbbrooks@chromium.org, Jan 2 2018

Issue description

Chrome Version:	64.0.3282.67
VrCore:	1.12.177372015
Device: Pixel 2 XL
OS: Android O (latest release)

This repro's in both Chrome browsing and WebVR. The following repro steps are only for WebVR.

What steps will reproduce the problem?
(1) Go to https://webvr.info/samples/
(2) Tap enter VR button and place device in Daydream headset to start WebVR experience.
(3) Move head around while observing the Chrome content.

What is the expected result? content should be adjusted according to head movement clearly.

What happens instead? A shadow or what could be described as a tracer, is left behind all content with head movement.

Note: This does not occur on a Pixel 2 standard size.

This sounds like black smear where the OLED pixels can't transition from near-black to brighter colors fast enough, and that is a display inherent issue and not something we can fix in software.
