Unwanted flickering is seen while playing video in youtube.com

Chrome Version: 65.0.3309.0 dev
OS: Ubuntu 14.04

What steps will reproduce the problem?
(1)Launch chrome>> Navigate to youtube.com and play some video>> Observe

Actual: Unwanted flickering is seen
Expected:No such issue should be seen.

This is a Regression issue broken in M-65
Will update other info soon..

Manual Bisect Info:
------------------
Good Build: 65.0.3289.0
Bad Build:  65.0.3290.0

Unable to do per-revision bisect as invoking builds are crashing.
Unable to provide has bisect as getting all the invoking builds are bad even after increasing the range.
Issue seems to be very inconsistent.

kebalaji@ could you try doing real builds with a git bisect?  Unfortunately the range is still too large to make sense of

Issue is reproducible on M62- 62.0.3164.0 and seems to be very inconsistent. Unable to provide reliable bisect. Attaching screencast for reference.

This is probably a driver issue. As some point the entire window is flickering and we see the desktop background.

Can you attach the contents of about:gpu?

Checked the issue on 66.0.3328.0 dev on Ubuntu 14.04, able to reproduce the issue. Attached is the GPU details.

Nothing obvious in the suggested bisect range.

The GPU mentioned on about:GPU is recent, more recent than your distribution (and I believe your version of mesa). I'm not sure the driver is stable.

Can you try with a more recent distribution / driver?

Issue seems to be working fine on latest Canary 66.0.3334.0, stable 64.0.3282.119 and Beta 64.0.3282.119 after updating the driver.

Updated driver running below command:

sudo apt-get install --install-recommends linux-generic-lts-utopic xserver-xorg-lts-utopic libqt5gui5 libgles1-mesa-lts-utopic libgles2-mesa-lts-utopic libgl1-mesa-glx-lts-utopic libgl1-mesa-glx-lts-utopic:i386 libglapi-mesa-lts-utopic:i386 libegl1-mesa-drivers-lts-utopic

Removing the Needs-Bisect label as this no longer repros after driver update.
