Issue descriptionUserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_13_2) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/63.0.3239.108 Safari/537.36 Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. Open PDF in Chrome (either attached to this bug or at this link: http://www.homeoint.ru/pdfs/Aluminum_adjuvants.pdf ) 2. Try to search for the keyword 'fda' or 'FDA' 3. Only 3 results are found/matched instead of 8 present in the document. What is the expected behavior? All 8 keyword 'FDA' matches should be found instead of only 3. What went wrong? Built-in search did not find (missed) 5 matches out of total 8. Did this work before? N/A Chrome version: 63.0.3239.108 Channel: stable OS Version: OS X 10.13.2 Flash Version: This is frustrating, to miss something if it's obviously there. I discovered this bug by accident, and hope that it was introduced just recently.

Thanks for the report. The pdf attached to the bug is different than the one linked. tomljenovic2011 (1).pdf is 161,312 bytes while Aluminum_adjuvants.pdf is 259,411 bytes. Did you generate the attached pdf by printing the linked one? That said, I can reproduce with the attached pdf that only 3 occurrences the string "FDA" are found, but there are actually 8 occurrences. Ryan, can you take a look since you were dealing with some search bugs?

Took a look at this today. The issue is present in stable (63.0.3239.84), but not in canary (65.0.3310.0), so was likely fixed by some of the work I have done for searching in PDFs. I will look into if it is fixed in 64.

It was much easier to get a M64 build on OSX then I expected :-) This issue appears to be fixed in beta (64.0.3282.39). I am going to mark this as fixed, since it is a non-security issue, so it won't get merged to stable. |
