Issue descriptionUserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; CrOS x86_64 10176.13.1) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/64.0.3282.24 Safari/537.36 Platform: 10176.13.1 (Official Build) dev-channel eve Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. Lightly press the power button on a new Pixelbook. Typically the device locks. 2. Infrequently, the device will power down. The screen will do a fade animation as though you had initiated a shutdown normally via the ChromeOS menu. 3. What is the expected behavior? The screen locks. What went wrong? Instead of locking the screen, the system will periodically shutdown as if you had held down the power button for an extended length of time. Did this work before? No Chrome version: 64.0.3282.24 Channel: dev OS Version: 10176.13.1 Flash Version:

I believe I've seen this occur myself and only a quick tap of the power button prevents the shutdown. It's almost as though the button is stuck in the pressed state. It's unclear to me whether this is a hardware issue (button is actually stuck) vs software issue (we are somehow missing the button-up signal). @derat, any thoughts what might be happening here?

Not without logs. :-) Please file a feedback report using Alt+Shift+i immediately after rebooting and logging in the next time you see this. powerd logs power button presses and releases (albeit just with one-second granularity), so we can at least see what the EC reported.

Please comment again if you're able to provide a feedback report or logs after observing the issue; I'll reopen the bug and investigate further. |
