Mechanism to disable the ability to turn off WiFi on the Chrome device |
|||||
Issue descriptionSummary: Policy to enforce Wifi connectivity and disable user's ability to turn it off. With the vast choices both on the Chrome OS (Chrome apps) and Android applications that can be used with the Chromebooks to help with learning, there are those that have the essence of a game. Since younger students tend to learn more if the lectures are in the form of a game, more and more of these apps are created by developers and teachers make use of them. However, on the other hand, some of these games can be played offline. This can be a bit of a problem to a network setup wherein third party solutions, such as web filters, are used to monitor user activity. Once a user disables wifi, they are free to play the force-installed learning apps on their devices without bothering to be monitored by the web filter. Enforcing wifi to be enabled all of the time would render this scenario not possible. Use case / Motivation: -Disabling the ability to turn off the wifi on the chrome device will help super admins and teachers to monitors the activities of each students and make sure they are using the apps on the right time (during lectures) and not when the learning app is irrelevant to the lecture. Existing workarounds: - no workaround Case#: 14074735

Has any thought, attempt, or progress been made in this area? It is frustrating to see the only updates coming to my email are those asking to have it instated with out a reply. |
