Issue descriptionChrome Version: 63.0.3239.86 Chrome OS Version: 10032.71.1 (Official Build) stable-channel swanky Chrome OS Platform: Toshiba Chromebook 2 Network info: N/A Please specify Cr-* of the system to which this bug/feature applies (add the label below). Steps To Reproduce: (1) To start, on Chromebook Bluetooth settings, Nexus 5 is listed as Unpaired device. On Nexus, Chromebook_1EBE is listed as Available device. Nexus has pattern lock enabled but is unlocked during the following. (2) On Chromebook click Nexus 5. Pair request appears with matching code on Nexus. On Nexus, click Pair. On Chromebook click Accept. (3) On Chromebook, log out and attempt to log in. Expected Result: After (2), expect Nexus and Chromebook to be paired and connected. After (3), expect Smart Lock to allow login without password. Actual Result: After (2), Chromebook displays 'Failed to connect to "Nexus 5"'. On Chromebook, Nexus 5 appears as Paired device but "Not connected". On Nexus, Chromebook_1EBE appears as Paired device. On Chromebook, clicking "Connect" on Nexus 5 again results in 'Failed to connect to "Nexus 5"'. How frequently does this problem reproduce? Always. What is the impact to the user, and is there a workaround? If so, what is it? User cannot use Smart Lock to log in without password. No workaround. Please provide any additional information below. Attach a screen shot or log if possible. Nexus 5 is running Android version 6.0.1, System update says it is up to date. Smart Lock worked with same phone and Chromebook up until several weeks ago. No known changes coinciding with its ceasing to work. Same symptoms using 62.0.3202.97. Smart Lock Bluetooth Low Energy Discovery is ENABLED on Chromebook. Same symptoms using 2 different Google accounts. Tried resetting sync from Google Dashboard, no change in symptoms. For graphics-related bugs, please copy/paste the contents of the about:gpu page at the end of this report.

Can reproduce the pairing failure here with a Pixel 3, up to date (build PQ1A.181105.016) -- I get the same result of "After (2), Chromebook displays 'Failed to connect to "Nexus 5"'. On Chromebook, Nexus 5 appears as Paired device but "Not connected". So, this doesn't seem like a Smart Lock problem, but a Bluetooth one. If you try to use the Bluetooth connect menu to connect, it fails instantly with the same error. |
