Issue descriptionUserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_13_1) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/63.0.3239.108 Safari/537.36 Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. Searched previous reports and responses 2. 3. What is the expected behavior? Chrome should only have a single entry. Mail notifications should work What went wrong? Notifications for mail stopped working. Did this work before? N/A Chrome version: 63.0.3239.108 Channel: stable OS Version: OS X 10.13.1 Flash Version: I've noted that Google engineers feel a double entry for Notifications is "normal". Sounds counter intuitive since no other browser does the same thing. I think my notifications should work as intended.

Hi Jerry, Thank you for your report. Entries in the Mac OS Notification Center can display a single type of notification: alerts or banners. * Alerts persist on screen until you interact with them, which is important for things like calendar notifications. * Banners, on the other hand, disappear into the notification center after a set amount of time. (Most notifications.) Because we act as a platform for websites to show notifications, which could be for either urgency, it's important that we support both. I agree that having two entries is both unfortunate and confusing, but missing out on calendar events would be worse. There are two other issues you mention in this bug: >> Mail notifications should work What sort of issue are you experiencing with mail notifications? >> Sometimes I have to click a link 2 or 3 times for it to open. In Chrome or elsewhere? Does this happen on particular websites, or everywhere?

This looks a lot like a complaint for what I'm seeing too - no desktop notifications on MacOS 10.13.2 whatsoever from chrome, even with them being turned on everywhere. In my case i'm on Beta tho: Version 64.0.3282.24 (Official Build) beta (64-bit)

Thank you for your feedback. I have all my notifications set for "banners" so they are temporary in nature. Lately, the banner notifications for Apple Mail are hit and miss. I hear the alert tone but the banner at times never shows. It is consistently inconsistent. Thanks, Jerry

Able to reproduce the issue on Mac 10.13.1 using chrome reported version #63.0.3239.108. Observed that mail notifications set to "banner" did not appear even on hearing an alert tone. But the issue is very inconsistent in behaviour as again on reinstallation of the same build showed the banner notification on getting a new mail. Hence, unable to provide bisect for this issue and marking it as untriaged for further inputs from dev team. Thanks...!!

krajshree@ - do you recall exactly what steps you followed when you reproduced this in #6? Are you able to reproduce it with Chrome notification alert style set to 'Banners' always on our test site over at https://tests.peter.sh/notification-generator/ ? Jerry - to clarify, when you talk about 'Apple Mail' notifications, can you confirm these are from accessing iCloud Mail with Chrome? (If they're from the mac Mail application then obviously we can't help you there).

**UI Mass Triage** This issue is still reproducible on latest canary #72.0.3616.0. Adding appropriate labels. |
