[macOS] Feature request: Speed up download time of the Canary updates (with delta updates like Firefox Nightly?) |
||||
Issue descriptionChrome Version: 65.0.3293.0 Canary OS: Mac OS 10.12.6 What steps will reproduce the problem? (1) Have a 50Mbps internet connection (2) Start Chrome Canary (3) Select in the Menu: Chrome > About Google Chrome What is the expected result? A very quick update time like e.g. Firefox Nightly. It needs only 5 seconds for the download. I think, this is because Firefox Nightly uses delta updates (only 3MB). What happens instead? The Chrome Canary update needs around 03:40 Minutes for the update :-( Maybe we can improve this :-) Thanks. Mehmet

Diff updates are served for canary. E.g., The update for 73.0.3670.0 to 73.0.3671.0 is only 4.4 MB. The update progress shown in the settings page also includes unpacking and applying the update.
