Number of displayed grid items is limited to n×columns×1000

Steps to reproduce the problem:

Render 10000 items with `grid-template-columns: repeat(4, 1fr)`

What is the expected behavior?
10000 items

What went wrong?
only 4000 items are displayed

Looks like a duplicate of issue 688640
