Chromebook prints blank pages with Brother printer

Project Member Reported by crouleau@chromium.org, Dec 6 2017

Issue description

ASUS C302CA-DHM4 chromebook (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01N5G5PG2) connected through USB to Brother laser printer HLL2300D (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00NQ1CLTI) prints blank pages.

The chromebook recognizes the printer and then prints, but the pages come out blank.

According to the product listing on Brother's website http://www.brother-usa.com/printer/modeldetail/1/hll2300d/spec, that printer only supports GDI. GDI is a Windows specific drawing language.

There is limited support for GDI in the open source community. But the results are spotty at best. http://www.openprinting.org/printer/Generic/Generic-GDI_Printer

Unfortunately, this isn't going to be fixed any time soon. Sorry.
Thanks for the message.

My Macbook does work for this, so I'm wondering whether there is some driver that CrOS can use.
