Copy/paste issues with Jaws 18 virtual cursor |
||||||||||||||||||||||
Issue descriptionOS: Windows Reported feedback from Googler, anecdotally reproducing across Chrome versions. Copy/paste rarely allows to copy from the Jaws 18 virtual cursor. Either what is copied is not the full text or it just doesn’t work at all. This is everywhere, including in the address bar.

More info from a user: I'm having trouble selecting text in Chrome for Windows when I'm using a screen reader other than ChromeVox, so I'm wondering if there's something extra I need to do. I'm holding down shift while using the arrow keys to select, and I'm using ctrl+c and ctrl+v to copy and paste. I'm also sometimes using ctrl+a to select all. In general, NVDA works relatively well. Most of the time, I can successfully select text with shift+arrows (not with ctrl+a), and I can copy it to the clipboard for pasting elsewhere. But there are times when I need to make multiple attempts or when the text does not get selected or copied. In general, Jaws 18 and Narrator don't work. Most of the time, I hear that text is selected and copied, but only a link or some code is pasted elsewhere. Occasionally, I am able to paste the text I intended, but this is rare. Again, I'm using shift+arrows and ctrl+a to select text and to select all, and I'm using ctrl+c and ctrl+v to copy and paste text. When I browse the web, I often select text and copy it into a blank Word document so I can read it comfortably, cutting ads and other clutter as I go. I also like saving recipes, knitting patterns, and other howtos for reading offline. I've had a hard time doing this with Chrome and other Windows screen readers.

I completed the work in Blink to make this work. I need to wire the APIs to the browser side. Taking this on. |
