Google Docs and Sheets files do not load in Canary, although they load in Chrome Stable

Issue description

Chrome Version: 64.0.3282.5 
OS: Win 10, also found a report from: Mac OS X: 10.12.6

What steps will reproduce the problem?
(1) Open a Doc or Sheets file from Google Drive
(2) Sheets file stuck in "loading" (see: stillloading.jpg)
(3) Doc file just doesn't load at all 
(4) Same files open just fine on Stable (see: loadsonstable.jpg)
 
What is the expected result?
The files will open on Canary

What happens instead?
It hangs during loading. I am not sure if this is a Docs bug or a Chrome bug... I have a repro case for this if anyone wants me to demo. We also received a second report from a Googler about this same bug.
