Google Doodle hard to read and not clearly branded as Google |
||||||
Issue descriptionApplication Version (from "Chrome Settings > About Chrome"): 62.0.3202.84 Android Build Number (from "Android Settings > About Phone/Tablet"): Android 8.1.0 Device: Pixel 2 Steps to reproduce: 1) Launch Chrome for the first time. Observed behavior: The Doodle that shows (see attached screenshot) is somewhat small and difficult to read. In this case, it also does not clearly say "Google" (especially on a small mobile phone screen). Expected behavior: I think the first time one launches Chrome, we should strongly consider showing a full, normal Google logo rather than a Doodle. The reason for this is that we want to clearly establish the link between Chrome and Google for first-time users of Chrome, to make it more clear what the search box on the first-run experience does. People know Google and the Google logo, however, many of the Doodles that are shown are not so obviously branded as coming from Google. I think this is a missed opportunity to establish clear branding for first-time users.

Screenshot is on a Pixel 2. I have the text and display size set to "small" on the device.

Agreed that generally the doodles are not recognizable enough for first run. Changing that seems like a feature request. The smaller size is working as expected when setting the display size to small. Targeting as type Feature to M65. I'll be on leave soon... Theresa, is this something that could fit in the Chrome Home work for M65? The NTP will soon be gone, but I guess the change could apply to both NTP and Chrome Home.

Moving to available for anyone working on the NTP to pick up. I suspect this isn't going to get targeted for M65 given the other Chrome Home and Jardin work, but we will keep it in the queue.
