I can confirm this behavior, although on my chromebook pro, I can usually maintain connectivity for about 15-20 seconds. I see the same (mutatis mutandis) logs as the OP. To my naive eye, it looks like the connection is dropping from the server side, but judging from the ipsec authlogs on my VPN server, that doesn't appear to be the case. (I'm a fairly new hand at this, so take it with a grain of salt.) For what it's worth, I also see this behavior with third-party VPNs that support l2tp. Version info: UA: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; CrOS x86_64 10176.22.0) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/64.0.3282.41 Safari/537.36 Platform: 10176.22.0 (Official Build) beta-channel caroline Let me know if there's any more information I can provide.

I can confirm this is still broken on the dev channel with 65.x I'm going to try to powerwash/revert back to stable and try again.

Potential dupe of crbug.com/797058

Yeah, it's failing to respond to ARP queries from the gateway, and falling off the network. I reproduced the same behavior on both OpenVPN + L2TP/IPsec builtin clients. http://crosreview.com/851085 is in the CQ now.
