Ctrl-Clicking while selecting an element to inspect causes page to disappear

Reported by r...@metail.co.uk, Nov 30 2017

Issue description

UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/62.0.3202.94 Safari/537.36

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Enter element select mode using Ctrl-Shift-C or clicking the arrow icon in developer tools.
2. Press and hold down Ctrl key
3. Click any element on the page

What is the expected behavior?
Element is selected and focused in devtools window.

What went wrong?
Entire page contents disappear, leaving a blank white space where the page was and devtools open to the side.

Did this work before? N/A

Chrome version: 62.0.3202.94 Channel: stable
OS Version: 10.0
Flash Version:

Additional observations:
Refreshing the page does not bring the content back.
Closing devtools does bring the content back.
Resizing the window or devtools window causes the page to re-display and a screenshot to be saved.
While the page is not displayed, the dom can still be interacted with in devtools and the elements all still have expected sizes and position.

Why do you hold Ctrl? (You engage with the screenshot tool that apparently has a bug)
Friendly ping to get an update on this issue as it is marked as stable blocker.
Thanks..!

Hi, I held control by accident, not to actually make anything happen.

Because I pressed Ctrl-Shift-C to switch to inspect mode I happened to still have Ctrl held down when I selected an item.

Still, I would expect that with Ctrl held, inspecting an element should either
a) Do exactly the same as without Ctrl held, or
b) Do something different but predictable and useful!

The observed behaviour didn't seem like either of those.

Unable to reproduce the issue on Windows 10 & Ubuntu 14.04 using chrome reported version-62.0.3202.94 & latest stable-63.0.3239.108 as per C#0 & C#3.

Ctrl+ clicking on any element is getting selected & focused in dev tools window. No blank page is displayed upon clicking Ctrl.

Please find the attached screen cast for reference & let us know if we miss any steps to reproduce the issue.

Thanks..!
