Issue descriptionUserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:57.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/57.0 Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. Have a web page with <img> containing very big image (16MB) What is the expected behavior? Image should be visible. What went wrong? Whole screen is flickering with black color and browser freezes. Did this work before? No Chrome version: 62.0.3202.94 Channel: stable OS Version: 10.0 Flash Version: 27.0.0.187 Happens only in chrome and chrome canary. Graphics drivers are updated. No extensions or plugins are installed.

Able to reproduce the issue on reported version 62.0.3202.94 and latest Canary 64.0.3279.0 using Windows 7, the same is seen from M50(50.0.2641.0). Hence considering the issue as Non-Regression from M-50 and marking it as Untriaged. Note: Issue is not seen on Mac 10.12.6 and Ubuntu 14.04

The repro video in #5 is checkerboarding. This is unfortunate but expected in very large image cases, since we are likely out of the memory budget when processing this. We would likely need image tiling to fix this, which is on our backlog of items to work on. However, currently it isn't high priority. As for OP, flickering black and browser freezing seems like a different issue. Could you verify if you're running sw or gpu rasterization (you can find that out in about:gpu. Feel free to also attach the context of that page). It would be great if you could attach a video of that as well, if it looks different from #5.

I attached the video and results of about:gpu and about:version. Whole browser is flickering in black, even top panel/toolbar and everything else. |
