the root cause is tabindexes for each of inputs on the page if replace tabindexes with tabindex="1" for every element it will work as expected

We've also experienced this issue. Windows, Chrome version: Version 62.0.3202.94 (Official Build) (64-bit) We have a page with a large number of <select> elements (all with tabIndex) values. When clicking on an element, we can have a delay of up to 10 seconds before the drop-down list appears. I've made a simple JSFiddle that reproduces the issue here: https://jsfiddle.net/L19mn1rr/ In my browser, with that many <select> elements, clicking one basically hangs the browser for several seconds.

Ajith, could you check if this is related to smart go changes (and the threshold stuff temporarily fixed this?)?

Yes kochi@ this issue is fixed with https://chromium-review.googlesource.com/c/chromium/src/+/758481. We are investigating the threshold improvement @ https://bugs.chromium.org/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=787759. So closing this issue.
