chrome.contextMenus.update can't untick checkbox

UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_13_0) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/62.0.3202.94 Safari/537.36

Steps to reproduce the problem:
component=Platform>Extensions Type=Bug chrome.contextMenus.update

1. Create a checkbox contextMenu in the ['browser_action'] context and make sure the checkbox is ticked.
2. Run chrome.contextMenus.update(YOUR_ID, {checked: false}).

What is the expected behavior?
The checkbox should become unticked.

What went wrong?
The checkbox doesn't untick. It works the other way around, though. If I manually untick the checkbox (by clicking at it), chrome.contextMenus.update(YOUR_ID, {checked: true}) works fine.

Unable to reproduce the issue on latest chrome stable# 67.0.3396.62 using the extension provided in comment# 2.
