When I hit ctrl + shift + F5 to take a screenshot of a specific region, the cursor disappears

Reported by james.welbes@chromium.org, Nov 22 2017

Issue description

UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; CrOS x86_64 10032.39.0) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/63.0.3239.50 Safari/537.36
Platform: 10032.39.0 (Official Build) beta-channel cave

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Hit Ctrl + Shift + F5
2. Try to find your cursor

What is the expected behavior?
I should be able to see the cursor so that I can select the region I would like a screenshot of

What went wrong?
I can't see the cursor. I invoke the keyboard shortcut, the screen goes grey and the cursor disappears.

Did this work before? N/A

I create screenshots routinely to support users on the Google support forums. This problem is a significant impediment. I have to move the cursor around until it either appears, or I can find it.

I experimented with the Accessibility setting that allows a larger cursor. If that feature is enabled, the screenshot crosshair is somewhat easier to see, but the normal cursor is too big.

The problem could probably be solved by simply increasing the thickness of the crosshair cursor.

Pretty sure this is a dupe of another issue, but I can't find it.
Could it be this archived issue?

To me, it's still an issue, perhaps the approach mentioned in the above feature request is plausible -

2. Add something that will point to the mouse such as Enlarge-on-shake or MD-ripple effect.
