Black-white gradient doesn't render well in new media controls |
|||||||||
Issue descriptionChrome Version : 64.0.3274.0 OS Version: 10150.0.0 What steps will reproduce the problem? 1. Enable New Media Controls flag 2. Go to https://beaufortfrancois.github.io/sandbox/media/plain-video.html What is the expected result? The Black-white gradient should look great. What happens instead of that? Because there is no noise, the gradient shows grey horizontal lines.

Able to reproduce the issue using #64.0.3275.0 on Windows, Mac & Linux and #64.0.3275.0 on Android. This is a Non-Regression Issue as the flag "New Media Controls" is available since M64# 64.0.3242.0. Note: The media controls are not proper and looking same as in the screenshot attached (when any flag is not available) on Android (M52# 52.0.2743.98) and on Windows, Mac & Linux (M44# 44.0.2403.157). So marking the issue as Untriaged for further inputs. Thanks!!

I presume we will do some iterations on this gradient but keeping the bug around.

Let's try the new gradient properties (spec attached) and see if the banding is still an issue. Is there a way to programmatically add noise? (Adding noise to pngs adds to file size exponentially so it's something we'll need to balance if we end up needing to create the scrim using an asset)

Closing this as WontFix because we have fixed that particular issue and there is another issue about changing the gradient to an image. |
