Issue descriptionUserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/62.0.3202.94 Safari/537.36 Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. Open Chrome browser on Windows 10 tablet 2. On Chrome's initial google page click searcbox 3. Type something on IME What is the expected behavior? Text can be typed via IME without problems What went wrong? IME hides on first IME key press Did this work before? No Chrome version: 62.0.3202.94 Channel: stable OS Version: 10 Flash Version: This happens because of typing to Embedded Search API search box switches focus to addressbar and causes TEXT_INPUT_TYPE_NONE text type notification to IME. Omnibox has concept of invisible focus but it causes incorrect text input type notification to IME.

divya.padigela@, Can you re-test this? I noticed you tested it incorrectly. You skipped step 2. You must explicitly click in the search box in the middle of the page.

Needs-TestConfirmation per comment #4.

Removing Needs-Feedback label in hopes that that makes the test engineers respond to Needs-TestConfirmation. Also adding NewTabPage component, as it's about that.

Able to reproduce the issue on reported chrome version 62.0.3202.94 and on the latest chrome version 66.0.3346.0 using Windows-10 tablet. As the issue is seen from M60(60.0.3072.0) considering it as non-regression and marking it as Untriaged. Note: Checked the behaviour on Linux 17.10 tablet, observed the different behaviour(when we changed the IME to Thai and typed the text, input is not taken), didn't chekced the issue on ipad because of unavailability on device with ET team. Thanks!

pnoland@: I don't know the NTP / Zine triage process. Under what conditions is a bug like this marked as "zine-triaged" and as "untriaged"?
,

Triaging older NTP bugs: I'm afraid I don't have access to a Windows tablet to check if this is still occurring in M69. From what I understand of the description, it's possible that this has a similar cause as issue 337165, and is therefore blocked on 778489. Preemptively tagging as such.
