Issue descriptionChrome Version : 62.0.3202.82 OS Version : 9901.66.0 URLs (if applicable) : N/A Other browsers tested: N/A What steps will reproduce the problem? 1. Let say that your app list is a few pages long and the last page has just one position free. 2. Install a new app. 3. Visually search for this newly installed app in the launcher. What is the expected result? New app will be placed on the last free position. What happens instead of that? The new app will be randomly placed somewhere in the middle of the last page and the rest of apps will be shifted one place to the end of the list. Please provide any additional information below. Attach a screenshot if possible. UserAgentString: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; CrOS x86_64 9901.66.0) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/62.0.3202.82 Safari/537.36 Device : Acer Chromebook 14 for Work (CP5-471) Here is an example: My app list is two pages long and the last page has just one position free. I just installed two new apps in this order: - Reboot Logger - Link2SD Now take a look how they were placed in the launcher, somewhere in the middle of the last page. This is a very strange behaviour. Why not add new app just to the end of the list? I wonder every time when I am visually searching for newly installed app in the launcher, which random algorithm is used to insert new app between other apps in the launcher...

As a work-around, you can manually re-arrange icons. But that really only helps if you have about one page worth of icons (in which case it hardly matters). If you have anything more than one page, the launcher randomly scrolls back and forth and it is impossible to place icons where they need to go.

@Markus: Exactly! What you described is even much more frustrating than mine point and deserve its own issue I think. Because of this bug I must have rearranged all my apps to 13 groups to be able to place all of them to just one page.

Weidong, is this going to be solved with the fix to Issue 883939?
