HTML-preloading JSON as="fetch" for the coming XHR request causes double-download

Issue description

UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_13_1) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/62.0.3202.94 Safari/537.36

Steps to reproduce the problem:
With the Network tab open, load https://tobireif.com/demos/merry_christmas/ .

What is the expected behavior?
There should be just one download of the JSON file.

What went wrong?
There are two downloads of the same JSON file.

Did this work before? N/A 

Does this work in other browsers? N/A

Chrome version: 62.0.3202.94  Channel: stable
OS Version: OS X 10.13.1
