Issue descriptionUserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_12_5) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/62.0.3202.94 Safari/537.36 Steps to reproduce the problem: I am not sure what is happening here exactly, only that there is some glitchy behaviour being observed and I wish to know a bit more. 1. Go to www.beta.zedge.net and login 2. Hover over the small svg icons 3. White svg artifacts appear covering other SVG icons This has been observed on MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2015) Intel Iris Pro 1536 MB. Also mid 2014, but not using late 2013 Another example: 1. Go to https://github.com/retallicka 2. Click on, then hover over the small svg squares 3. The entire section of SVG squares has some rendering problems, with sections not being painted/updated This has been reproduced on MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Late 2013) and MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2015) What is the expected behavior? No glitches What went wrong? These effects do not occur 100% of the time, but more often than not. For more info https://twitter.com/retallicka/status/926068241562300417 Did this work before? No Chrome version: 62.0.3202.94 Channel: stable OS Version: OS X 10.12.5 Flash Version:

Could be the same as issue 773100 . Could you check if disabling hardware accelerated rendering fixes the issue like in that bug. (You should be able to find the toggle in the "System" section of the advanced settings on chrome://settings/.)

Yes, both examples of the glitchy behaviour are fixed by disabling hardware accelerated rendering. It is the same bug as issue 773100 , that cites my second example. However in the first example, no opacity is being changed. It is hard to pin down what is happening exactly there.

Thank you for providing more feedback. Adding requester "krajshree@chromium.org" to the cc list and removing "Needs-Feedback" label. For more details visit https://www.chromium.org/issue-tracking/autotriage - Your friendly Sheriffbot

It's quite possible that the two examples are two different bugs, so let's consider the first example to be the bug here, and leave the other one for issue 773100 (i.e two bugs until proven otherwise.) Is there a demo/test account available for ZEdge? (That might help with triage.) If not I suspect one will have to be created by whoever does the triage (I don't have any hardware that's even remotely similar to what's described.)

We don't have a test account however an account can be created quickly without email validation :) Added another image to help and removed the previous one as that refers to the other bug

Please see my comment #6 on #773100 which may be related (SVG bug fixed by disabling HA): https://bugs.chromium.org/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=773100#c6

@Comment9 No, none of my colleagues who see these bugs see that one, so that might be a different one yet

Can you pls have a look or triage further fmalita? This sounds like a bug in hardware skia raster.

I cannot repro on a 2016 MBP. Brian/Robert do we have the affected HW in the office to test?

I think we have one in the office. I'm WFH today but will check tomorrow.

No repro on a Mid 2015 MacBook Pro Retina 13in Early 2015 with Intel Iris Graphics 6100.

I should have a Mid 2015 MacBook Pro to try tomorrow.

I tried a MacBook Pro Mid 2015 with switchable GPUs (AMD and Intel Iris Pro 1536 MB) and couldn't reproduce the bug on Stable or Dev channel using either the integrated or discrete GPU. The system was, however, running 10.12.6. OP, any chance you could try upgrading from 10.12.5 to see if that fixes it? |
