after upgrade of Chrome from 61 to 62, chrome crashes when using Check Point Sandblast Agent for browsers extension

Issue descriptionUserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/62.0.3202.94 Safari/537.36 Steps to reproduce the problem: the original scenario: 1. add the checkpoint SandBlast Agent for browsers extesnion to chrome version 61 2. upgrade crome to versio 62 3. navigate to some web site which reuqires login (don't try google.com domain, try yahoo or any other site) 4. click on the user name\password field, and see that the extension is scanning the page 5. once the scan will finish the chrome will crash Note the may not reproduce on every machine, so we took from a PC with reproduction the extension local settings folder, and manage to reproduce it easely: 1. on a PC with chrome version 62, install the Check Point Agent for browsers extesnion from the bellow link: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/check-point-sandblast-age/bnbpncoilnpdbcbfcegbjocobjppndlh?authuser=1 2. close all chrome process 3. go to the local settings of the extension under %LOCALAPPDATA%\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\Local Extension Settings\bnbpncoilnpdbcbfcegbjocobjppndlh and delete all the files 4. download the zip fie from the following link https://www.dropbox.com/s/iji91sjzgwdjrnj/local%20settings.zip?dl=0 4. extract the the downloaded zip "local settings.zip" to the folder %LOCALAPPDATA%\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\Local Extension Settings\bnbpncoilnpdbcbfcegbjocobjppndlh 5. Launch Chrome and navigate to some web site which reuqires login (don't try google.com domain, try yahoo or any other site) note: the extension will scann each site only once 4. click on the user name\password field, and see that the extension is scanning the page 5. once the scan will finish the chrome will crash we belive that when chrome was upgraded from version 61 to 62, it corrupted something in the local storage, and when the extension try to use chrome api to write to the local storage the chrome crashes. please find dump file from the time of the exception in the following link: https://www.dropbox.com/s/o06un3h6fzpgpuw/crash_ext.dmp?dl=0 What is the expected behavior? after the extension finish scanning the field, the web page should continue as normal, and chrome shouldn't crash What went wrong? after the extension finish scanning the field, chrome crashed. (not just specific tab, all the proceeses were crashed) we belive that when chrome was upgraded from version 61 to 62, it corrupted something in the local storage, and when the extension try to use chrome api to write to the local storage the chrome crashes. please find dump file attached from the time of the exception Did this work before? "Unable to reproduce the issue on the reported chrome version stable 62.0.3202.94 using Windows10, with the below mentioned steps. 1.Opened chrome 2. Added checkpoint SandBlast extension 3. Closed all the chrome process 4. Navigated to the exact path mentioned in comment#0 5. Deleted all the files in the last folder of the path 6. Downloaded the zip file from the URL provided. 7. Extracted the zip file to the path specified in C#0 8. Launched Chrome 9. Navigated to www.yahoo.com We observed no crash of chrome. Attaching the screen cast of the same. @Reporter: Could you please mention whether we have missed any steps in reproducing it and Providing a crash ID would help us in triaging the issue in a better way. Unable to reproduce the issue on windows 7 & 10 using chrome stable M62 #62.0.3202.94 and canary M64 #64.0.3275.0 . @ zivsahar1-- Thanks for the update and could you please provide us the crash report id along with the local id. (Refer screenshot) that would be more helpful for us in traiging the issue. Thanks!

chrome doesn't succeed uploading the report, is there a way I can manually take the report and send it to you? we get hundreds of complaints about chrome keep on crashing and we must understand the root cause and the fix. I've uploaded previously the dumps that where generated did you look into them?

chrome still crashes after upgrade to version 63. when there is an upgrade from version 61 to 62\63, chrome corrupts the local storage, and when using the API to update the local storage chrome is crashing. i attached the dumps in the veriy first comment. i still didn't got answer if anyone looked at them. Can someone please look into the dumps?

Unable to reproduce the issue on Win-7 using chrome latest stable version #63.0.3239.108 as per steps in comment #19. Attached a screen cast for reference. Observed that after scan got finished, the chrome did not crash and worked without any issues. zivsahar1@ - Could you please check this issue on latest stable #63.0.3239.108 by creating a new profile without any apps and extensions and please let us know if the issue still persist or not. Hi, i appriciate your effort training to reproduce it, since for some reason the chrome doesn't succeed in uploading the chrome crash report, is there a chance i can schedule with you a remote session, and show you the bug on my machine? this issue occurs on hundreds of machines world wide and we really need to figure it out. please let me know if its accptable

Hi, I have encountered the issue in Windows 10 and Chrome 67. Specifically, the crash happens after extensions:sendRequest calls native.StartRequest() where "functionName" parameter equals "storage.set". Attached is a crash dump taken from "\User Data\Crashpad\reports". Thank you
