Please can Chrome put images on the clipboard in a consistent manner? (.PNG / base64 / canvas / blob)

Reported by michael....@gmail.com, Nov 15 2017

Issue description

UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/63.0.3239.30 Safari/537.36

Steps to reproduce the problem:
Open this page which has 4 images displayed using 4 methods
(PNG, base64 string, canvas, blob)
http://test.geogebra.org/~mike/pasteImageIntoWord/pasteImageTest.html

Right click on each image in turn and select "Copy Image" and try pasting into eg Microsoft Word 2016 for Windows with Ctrl-V

Only the PNG works

Similarly try dragging them from Chrome -> Word (the canvas can't be dragged but the results are the same with the other 3)

What is the expected behavior?
It shouldn't be possible for an external program to distinguish how an image was displayed in the html

What went wrong?
Nothing appears on Ctrl-V in Word

Did this work before? No

Chrome version: 63.0.3239.30  Channel: stable
OS Version: 10.0
Flash Version: Shockwave Flash 27.0 r0

I appreciate this /could/ be fixed in Word but it seems to make more sense to fix it in Chrome then it will automatically work in all 3rd-party programs that are already out there and may not be updated.

Also the blob puts this on the clipboard which seems strange:
<html>\u{13}
<body>\u{13}
<!--StartFragment--><img src="blob:http://test.geogebra.org/5ae86617-73ce-4fa6-bba0-a9831aa89cd0"/><!--EndFragment-->\u{13}
</body>\u{13}
</html>

michael.borcherds@ Thanks for the issue.

Tested this issue on Windows 7 using the latest Canary 64.0.3269.3, Stable 62.0.3202.94 and Beta 63.0.3239.52 by following the below steps.

1. launched Chrome and opened the given html page.
2. Copied the images and was able to paste it on Google Docs using ctrl-V. As we do not have MS Office setup on Corp machine, tried to repro this issue using Google Docs and was unable to repro the issue.
Attached is the screen cast for reference.

Request you to retry the issue on other browsers and let us know if the issue is seen on other browsers as well or only Chrome?

Thanks..

Thanks for testing! Yes, it's also fine for me pasting into Google Docs.

The problem is the same in other browsers, although the behaviour for canvas is different (by design I guess):
IE11: can't copy or save the canvas
Edge: can't copy or save the canvas
Firefox: can save but /can't/ copy the canvas
