FR: Add audio and video bitrate to about:media-internals |
|
Issue descriptionGoogle Chrome 64.0.3265.0 (Official Build) canary (64-bit) Platform 10127.0.0 (Official Build) canary-channel eve What steps will reproduce the problem? (1) Play video at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ViZEk1vnFCw (2) Go to about:media-internals (3) Select active media player and look for audio and video bitrates What is the expected result? I should be able to find these valuable information (especially for Media Capabilities API) What happens instead? No audio and video bitrates are available ;( Here's an extract of what I can see: 00:00:00 217 audio_decoder FFmpegAudioDecoder 00:00:00 217 info Selected FFmpegAudioDecoder for audio decoding, config: codec: opus bytes_per_channel: 4 channel_layout: 3 channels: 2 samples_per_second: 48000 sample_format: 4 bytes_per_frame: 8 seek_preroll: 80ms codec_delay: 312 has extra data? true encrypted? false discard decoder delay? true 00:00:00 219 video_decoder GpuVideoDecoder 00:00:00 219 info Selected GpuVideoDecoder for video decoding, config: codec: vp9 format: 2 profile: vp9 profile0 coded size: [854,480] visible rect: [0,0,854,480] natural size: [854,480] has extra data? false encrypted? false rotation: 0°

Dale, do we have existing code that approximates bitrate internally?

Just some stuff in MultibufferDataSource. FFmpeg provides some value too. Not sure what we'd do for MSE...

Looks like courier renderer has some estimation code too https://cs.chromium.org/chromium/src/media/remoting/courier_renderer.cc?l=851

For info, video bitrate is exposed in AomDecoder (Chromium build with AV1 flag)

Sweet! Note to self: bitrate is also desired for internal metrics - Issue 783494 |
