Resource leak streaming ISS-LIVE

Reported by paulgbou...@aim.com, Nov 14 2017

Issue description

UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.6; rv:48.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/48.0

Example URL:
http://www.ustream.tv/channel/live-iss-stream

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Open window on http://www.ustream.tv/channel/live-iss-stream
http://www.ustream.tv/channel/iss-hdev-payload
2. Open window on http://www.ustream.tv/channel/iss-hdev-payload
    (select ISS TRACKER)
3. Wait a day or so for OS crash.

What is the expected behavior?
No crash.

What went wrong?
in:
504 $ /usr/lib/chromium-browser/chromium-browser --version
Chromium 56.0.2924.84

on:
505 $ uname -a
Linux RaspbPi-3-2700 4.9.35-v7+ #1014 SMP Fri Jun 30 14:47:43 BST 2017 armv7l GNU/Linux

I may leave a couple Chromium windows open for days, streaming:
http://www.ustream.tv/channel/live-iss-stream
http://www.ustream.tv/channel/iss-hdev-payload
    (select ISS TRACKER)

I leave these streaming indefinitely and switch from HDMI to television.
... but after a day or so, the Raspbian OS crashes. I must completely reboot
This might be a resource leak.

Thanks,
gil

[2436:2436:1113/205813.847209:ERROR:sandbox_linux.cc(343)] : InitializeSandbox() called with multiple threads in process gpu-process.

I restarted chromium on the same windows and captured the
chrome://gpu text before the crash, of course.

Other browsers are generally worse -- can't view stream.

Comment 1 by paulgbou...@aim.com, Nov 14 2017

The problem occured with chromium on raspbian, but I
submitted this report from Firefox on MacOS.
Why do you think this is something other than OOM due to the site explicitly accumulating data?

Thanks for filing the issue! Could you please update on comment#2 and please create new profile without extensions and apps.Re-check once in latest chrome stable(#62.0.3202.94)/canary(#64.0.3279.0) and let us know the observations and please provide the crash id from chrome://crashes of the issue which would help us to triage the issue further.

Thanks in Advance.

Comment 4 by paulgbou...@aim.com, Nov 29 2017

Hello, rbasuvula,
Thanks for your followup.

#2: I have no evidence that "this is something other than OOM due to
the site explicitly accumulating data. Is this accumulation controlled
by the site or by the browser? If chromium is not designed to support
an endless stream, this is Working As Designed. lxtask and "df" show
no secular consumption of resource. Is there a better tool to ask?
Would the OOM be main memory, chromium cache, swap space, or other?
Is there a way I can monitor each of these?

"New profile"? Would a new user ID suffice? That's what I can do
most easily.

#3: I've installed nothing on the Pi except by apt-get install. Where
do I find (#62.0.3202.94)/canary(#64.0.3279.0) and how do I install it?
(I should be able to find instructions with keywords and GIYF.)

Thanks again,
gil
