Issue descriptionUserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/64.0.3246.2 Safari/537.36 Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. try to mark a sentence in article 2. right click 3. text is unmarked What is the expected behavior? the text is left marked when clicking right button so i can click it and then click 'search google for..' or use other extensions that appear in context menu. What went wrong? import you mark sentence and not single word to see the bug. you have to try it many times until it stayed marked. very frustrating. the bug is the same in chrome stable version too. it's working still fine only in old chromium version i use. Did this work before? Yes Chrome version: 64.0.3246.2 Channel: canary OS Version: 6.1 (Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 R2) Flash Version:

It's seems like the issue is forgotten. Is there a chance someone will fix this bug? Maybe there are more relevant people that can be added to the cc list?

Why can't anyone understand the bug after so many explanations? it's so frustrating. After marking the text you should NOT stand with the mouse over the marked word or sentence. in previous versions when you didn't stand with mouse over the word you could still copy the word but now you can't. now you can only do it when the word marked and the mouse is over the word. Someone here understand what i am trying to say? please try it again and fix the bug. thanks.

dani.ohana@ Thanks for the update. Unable to reproduce the issue on Windows 10 on the latest Stable 67.0.3396.99 and Canary 69.0.3493.0 as per comment 7. As per comment #1 and #5, as the issue is not reproducible at TE end, adding 'TE-NeedsTriageHelp' label and requesting the appropriate team to look into the issue and help in further triaging. Thanks..

Mark WontFix since this is by design. Right-click outside selected region shows context menu for that point instead of context menu for selected region. Chrome/NotMac: show context menu for selected region if right-click in selected range, otherwise show context menu for clicked point. Chrome/Mac: show context menu for selected region if right-click in selected range, otherwise select word around clicked point and show context menu for it. Edge: show context menu for selected region if right-click in selected range, otherwise show context menu for clicked point. Firefox: Show context menu for selected range Safari: Same as Chrome/Mac BTW, AFAIK, we don't change this behavior. Since "git log" doesn't show changes for handling right-click and Safari and Chrome behave same == until 2013, both Safari and Chrome used WebKit, after 2013, Chrome uses forked version of WebKit called Blink.

I will try to explain this bug in a different way: before bug- i could mark text with left mouse button , and while still holding the left button- i could click right mouse button- and then appeared the context menu that relevant to selected text. that context menu with the marked text always appeared regardless where the right click was clicked (on the text or outside, as long as i still hold the left mouse button). what happens now, and this is still the same in canary version 69.0.3496.0 windows 7, is that when i mark a text i must release first the left mouse button and then I must stand with cursor on the selected text and click right button Instead of simple and intuitive action it became a total nightmare... Hope someone from the chrome developers would be able understand one day how terrible is this change and will fix it. |
