Issue descriptionUserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; CrOS x86_64 9901.54.0) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/62.0.3202.74 Safari/537.36 Platform: 9901.54.0 (Official Build) stable-channel eve Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. Open system tray 2. Attempt to adjust volume 3. Attempt to change audio input or output What is the expected behavior? Being able to adjust the volume and select input/output devices. What went wrong? The volume slider stays stuck on 0% and the ability to choose input/output devices is not available. Restart fixes the issue and it is intermittent. Did this work before? N/A Chrome version: 62.0.3202.74 Channel: stable OS Version: 9901.54.0 Flash Version: I use an extended display most days, so perhaps this is being caused from connecting and disconnecting through the day.

The board name of Acer Chromebook 15 CB515 is sand. Does anyone know how to find the URL of feedback report? It looks like we need to search by keywords in the feedback? robby.n.payne@gmail.com: Did you submit a feedback report? If yes, can you provide some keywords in the feedback so we can find the report. gbrangers45@gmail.com: Please provide some keywords in the feedback so we can find the report.

Feedback was pretty close (not verbatim) to my above comment.

I did have "plugable dock" in the feedback if that helps.

gbrangers45@ What's the repro rate? Does the issue always happen after you connect external monitor?
,

Disconnected and reconnected twice with the same result. Once after a total restart. Connected the Samsung Chromebook Pro and volume settings worked as expected.

Same problem here with a Pixelbook (version Google Chrome 62.0.3202.97). Has the problem straight out of the box. Cannot chose the audio I/O, volume keys don't move the slider, can move the slider with the mouse but still no sound (the speaker icon to the left of the slider stays like the volume is 0)

Same no-sound/slider problem with new Pixelbook. On startup the Pixelbook comes up with no sound, volume button doesn't do anything, and manually moving the volume slider doesn't produce sound (and when you close the status menu window the slider has returned all the way to the left). So far always corrected after a restart or two. No external devices connected.

Allen@/Avinash@/Joseph@, have we seen this issue on Eve?

#17 I am on Eve and saw this today. Had to do an EC reset to fix it.

How did you do the ec reset? I tried it a couple of times but it didn't work. Maybe I'm doing it wrong?

I tried an EC reset using this procedure several times, but it didn't work. However my battery dropped to 0 for the first time last night and the audio was functional when booted the computer.

I have an Acer CB5-311-T9Y2 that no longer plays sound through the earphones. In the status menu the arrow that should be at the far right of the volume slider has disappeared. The earphones work fine on my phone. Sound does come through the chromebook speakers. I have not added any new apps or extensions since it last worked. Here are the things I have tried to fix this issue: Cleared cookies and cache Disabled all extensions Device reset Powerwash Moved earphone jack in and out several times With the earphones plugged into the chromebook the sound continues to come through only the chromebook speakers, this is the case for all apps.

If this is the same issue as b/67029862 as abodenha noted, then this firmware issue should have been fixed with M63. Is this still reproducible on M63 or later?
,
Jan 30 2018
Also may be a dupe of https://crbug.com/769446 , which was also fixed in M63

I just tried my headphones and still have the problem, sound through the chromebook speakers but no sound through the headphones and there is no arrow on the far right of the sound bar to make a selection. Your Chromebook is up to date Version 63.0.3239.140 (Official Build) (32-bit) My headphones work fine on another computer and my phone.

Since December, 2017 I have been experiencing the issue with a set of external Hama speakers (3.5 mm audio jack + USB) on the following devices all running Chrome OS Stable: - i3 ASUS Chromebox 2 CN60 - Acer C720 Chromebook - Lenovo Yoga N23 Chromebook - i7 ASUS Chromebox 3 CN65 In all cases no audio comes from the speakers, the volume slider stays stuck on 0%, and the speakers are not listed in the audio I/O devices. |
