Issue descriptionUserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/62.0.3202.89 Safari/537.36 Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. Open "Control Panel\Clock, Language, and Region\Language\Advanced settings" 2. Check the checkbox for "Don't let websites access my language list. the language of my date, time, and number formatting will be used instead." 3. Visit this URL https://www.whatismybrowser.com/detect/what-http-headers-is-my-browser-sending What is the expected behavior? Don't include the "ACCEPT_LANGUAGE" header when this setting is set. What went wrong? you can see that chrome is still includes the "ACCEPT_LANGUAGE" header with the list of headers of the request, all other browsers don't do that. Did this work before? No Chrome version: 62.0.3202.89 Channel: stable OS Version: 10.0 Flash Version: I debated with myself if I should report this issue because I put a lot of effort in i18ning my websites by taking advantage of that header on the server. it is useful for tracking and advertising too, but you gotta respect the users' OS settings that they set.

sorry I just submitted another one without the privacy tag (with "other"), because it isn't actually a security issue it's a privacy issue. https://bugs.chromium.org/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=782814 which one you want to close and delete you decide. Yes, on Edge and IE and FireFox all tested.

Agreed with elawrence@ that this is a Windows setting that is likely intended to be a part of IE or Edge configuration. That said, if Windows exposes an API to read it, I'm all for respecting it. The more access points there are for the user to control Accept-Languages, the more likely it is that users trying to protect their privacy will find one. +cc napper@ FYI

"Unable to reproduce the issue on the reported chrome version stable 62.0.3202.89 and on the latest dev 64.0.3263.0 using windows10 by following the exact steps mentioned in the comment#0. Attaching the screen cast of the same. Note: We observed that chrome bahaviour is similar to that of firefox behaviour with reference to the screen shot provided by you from comment#7. @Rerporter: Could you please check the same issue on a new profile and let us know the behaviour. Thanks!"

@Rerporter from the task-bar in the video, it seems that you don't have multiple input languages on that Windows machine, can you add Hindi + English + other language and test again? Hindi, English and french for example. also try refreshing multiple times, it seems Chrome doesn't include that header with all requests.

@c11: I don't see a screencast in the comment. Can someone from test please confirm this behavior, making sure to have multiple languages selected? Also - do we know if Windows exposes an API for this or if it as c1 suggests intended for Edge/IE use only?

Unable to reproduce the issue on reported chrome version 62.0.3202.89 and on latest stable 69.0.3497.81 using Windows 10 with the exact steps mentioned in comment#0. Along with that had multiple languages selected in control panel as per comment#9. Note: Attaching the screen cast of the same for reference from latest stable version. Hence removing Needs-TestConfirmation label. Thanks!
