Chrome is unable to verify my stored credit card with autofill

Reported by suhajda....@gmail.com, Nov 7 2017

Issue description

UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_12_6) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/61.0.3163.100 Safari/537.36

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Purchasing something on a webshop, proceeding to payment
2. When the webshop asks for credit card details, I select my credit card from the autofill list
3. Chrome asks for the CVC number for that card
4. I type the correct CVC number
5. Chrome says: "Chrome was unable to confirm your card at this time. Please try again later."

What is the expected behavior?
expected behavior? instead of being unable to confirm, it should just simply confirm it and fill out the card details for the webshop. actually there's no way to retry it in the dialog. I have to type the bank card number manually every time!

I've tried to resolve the issue by removing and adding the card again to Chrome (which was a pain in the ass, because it's connected to some Google account, so I had to find another card first, remove this one, and add again), but this did not help.
Otherwise the bank card is working, I'm actively using it for online purchases all over the Internet (Hungarian and international purchases as well), but the autofill / CVC check part in Chrome is broken.

What went wrong?
how would I know? :D it's not working

Did this work before? Yes not sure, it's broken for months!!

Chrome version: 61.0.3163.100 Channel: n/a
OS Version: OS X 10.12.6
Flash Version:

who sould I contact if it's not Chrome's fault?

[chrome mac triage] Assigning to rogerm@ since he's been working on Autofill. Feel free to unassign and put it back on the Triage queue if your work is unrelated. Thanks!

Jared, can you take a look?

All the previous attempts I can see resulted in the card issuer not checking the CVC when authing the card--something that's out of Chrome's control. Thus, Chrome cannot be sure that the user is the actual cardholder, and filling the full card number would be a security issue.

Sorry suhajda.gabor@, but this is a problem outside of Chrome, so it's not something we can currently fix. The issuer for your credit card isn't being strict enough with the CVC auth, so if Chrome filled the card it would be a security issue (because we can't confirm it's actually you and not a thief trying to steal your info).

Closing as "working as intended".
