Chrome Signs Me Off Every Other Day

Issue descriptionUserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_13_1) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/61.0.3163.100 Safari/537.36 Steps to reproduce the problem: Not doing anything particular, the only thing I can think of, ist that I more often use two different computers than before. However I don't think using a Google Account on another computer justifies to sign me of on the other computer, at least it wouldn't make any sense. If this behaviour persists, I see me removing 2FA and setting a simple password I can remember to re-log-in quickly. What is the expected behavior? I remember before, that my Google Account signed me off every 20 days or so, which was not really necessary but I guess ok, hence in an emergency situation I'm able to sign off devices from one device I don't see it necessary to be automatically logged out anyway. What went wrong? Google signs me off every other day or so. Did this work before? Yes Not sure, before v60 I think Chrome version: 61.0.3163.100 Channel: stable OS Version: OS X 10.13.1 Flash Version:

Hi, thanks for your reply. As far as I know I haven't installed such an application. I only use a few extensions: 1Password, Panda 5, Web Developer and Page Speed Insights. I rarely clear cookies anyway. I added a dump of the sync-internals but removed the identity block, I hope that's what you was looking for? Let me know if I can test something else.

There's another issue I'm having which might be related to this. If Chrome again signed me off and I signed back in, it wouldn't autofill usernames/password for me until I restart Chrome. However sometimes restarting Chrome leads to Chrome signing me off again. It's a really frustrating experience.

Can you please clarify a few things: (1) Are you getting signed out of Chrome at the native browser level (which turns off Chrome Sync), or are you getting signed out of Google web services (e.g. google.com)? Or is it both? (2) If you are getting signed out of Chrome at the native browser level, do you get completely signed out, or do you get a little red exclamation point in the upper-right-hand corner of your browser window? (3) Can you please provide a screenshot of chrome://signin-internals from before you get signed out and also after you get signed out?

Putting back into needs-feedback until the details ewald@ asked for are provided. The sync-internals data provided suggests that the user is still signed into the browser at the native level.

Hi, I can already provide feedback for the following question: (1) I get signed out at the native browser level, which results to sign me off in every app i'm signed in with google login. (2) I get a little red exclamation point. (3) I'll provide a screenshot when it happens the next time. Thanks

I suspect your keychain is in a bad state. Can you try rebooting your computer and then starting Chrome?
,
Nov 21 2017
Hi, as it happens, since you've requested to have me post sync-internals, Chrome didn't sign me off again. So I still have to wait for it to happen to do so (unless the issue is fixed?). I actually shut down my computer everyday for the night and boot it in the morning.

We didn't make any changes to fix the problem, but I'm guessing there was some transient error with the keychain/secrets store that has since ended. Please upload sync-internals and signin-internals data if the problem recurs.

So I had the issue again today: Screenshots are attached.

If this is what is explained at #13, then we need the screenshot of chrome://signin-internals (not sync). May I ask you to upload that one?

Oops, I've misread that, sorry. Here's the signed in screenshot. Signed out will follows as it happens again.

CC+cfroussios@ for encryption issues. Yes, this confirms that Chrome failed to load the tokens from disk (see line "Load credentials failed with decrypt errors". I think at this moment you should also have lost all your cookies (the cookies are in general encrypted with the same functions). Is the keychain locked on your mac? Do you use a screenlock? Does unlocking your screen also unlocks your keychain?
,
Nov 22 2017
I can't really tell if cookies are lost. At least I have no indication so far. I never really use the keychain actively on my Mac, using 1Password instead, but i checked and it is unlocked (the lock in the upper left of the window ist open). There's the regular password lock from mac when the computer/display goes to sleep and after boot/reboot. I boot it everyday, but I have the impression, that it happens mostly when I use my laptop (eg. was in a workshop yesterday and only used the workstation in the morning, and in the afternoon i was only using the notebook from other networks). Since my keychain is unlocked right now, I assume that unlocking my screen does unlock it.

I find it interesting that when this happens, usernames and passwords aren't autofilled. Your passwords come from 1Password, not Chrome Sync, correct? If 1Password is also failing to read its stuff, it would be interesting to understand if there is a common problem. Does 1Password happen to store passwords in Keychain? (I don't know how it works on a Mac)
,
Nov 23 2017
Sorry for the confusion. I don't use the Mac-keychain, I use 1Password instead for most other applications, however for authentication in the browser I rely mostly on Chrome Sync not 1Password. Autofill from Chrome is disabled when I was signed off until I restart Chrome, then it works again.

Anything here? This is still happening way too much, an then, when chrome signs out, all my google-signed-in webapps are logged out too, so I have to sign in on every single pinned tab again, jira accuses me to have made a malformed request, which of course is not true, but it means that I have to manually navigate to the left open tab again every single time! All that takes up to 10min of my time for absolutely nothing, STOP SIGNING ME OUT EVER on this computer. And if it does, stop relying on Apples stupid Keychain, it doesn't happen on Windows. I'm seriously going to switch browser, this is issue is so annoying and one could guess, that something basic as this should be able to be solved at a company like Google. |
