Unable to reproduce this issue on Windows-10 using chrome latest stable #62.0.3202.89 by following steps mentioned in the original comment, observed no issues while playing YouTube videos. Reporter@ Could you please recheck this issue by upgrading your chrome to latest stable M62 and recheck for this issue. If issue still persists please create a new profile under chrome://settings with out any apps and extensions in your browser. Thanks!

I upgraded the video driver, the audio driver and Chrome. The problem persists. Both Internet Exploder and FireFox play all the videos fine. Chrome just decides on its own whether to play the video portion of a clip. I can't find a pattern. Guess I'll just keep using Firefox to play videos on Youtube. Seems strange that the browser you put out doesn't play with the website you own.

stanley.reynolds@, could you try playing back the video with the hardware acceleration disabled (chrome://flags#disable-accelerated-video-decode). This would tell if the problem has to do with the gpu video deco (or not).

It's interesting how my story keeps changing. I've tried everything suggested with no effect. Remember, I've tried different video cards, different computers, etc. Chrome has updated itself at least twice. My solution is to use FireFox on Youtube. The problem is clearly Chrome. Sorry you can't figure out what's wrong.
