chrome home UI makes it hard to get to background tabs |
||
Issue descriptionI <3 Chrome home, but this specific interaction regularly annoys me. Here's the steps I need to go to in order to go to a background tab or settings: 1. Click on home screen Chrome icon 2. Chrome home opens halfway. Get confused about how there's no way to get to the background tabs 3. Swipe down 4. Click on the tab number or overflow menu as appropriate. This keeps confusing me. It kind makes some sense when fullscreened, but it left me confused the first few times and now it just leaves me annoyed that I have to swipe down to do anything. It's the fact that it's the default view when you open Chrome that causes this problem. Although, I think it'd be less confusing to just always show the full toolbar. Is the extra URL bar real estate really worth hiding the toolbar buttons?

Either solution fine with me. Although, they are not mutually exclusive. I don't see the benefit of hiding the menu when chrome home is open. I guess it's a bit less clutter?

Yes, it's less clutter but that said, I think we're open to adding tab switcher/overflow menu back.

I personally find it less predictable, but like I said, either or both of the solutions you list address my main concern.

We are ending the current Chrome Home experiment and closing the corresponding Chrome Home bugs. Thanks for the feedback and support!

Why you do that? I used chrome home the whole time and now there was an update and nothing works now.

"Hey we came up with a good feature but we're too lazy to fix the bugs/improve on it so we'll just remove it completely! Genius plan!" |
