Current behaviour is a bit different:
(3) The page opens in a new tab
(4) After three seconds the page redirects to itself

So it would seem this bug is fixed, but something else is weird.

I believe https://redirectonpost.appspot.com (on the server side) sets the redirect target to the Referer. So perhaps we are not sending a Referer header to the out-of-scope window?

Very low priority.

Spun off into Issue 826158 for the Referer issue.

The main issue originally reported is fixed.

hehe, I've been investigating this for the past hour.

For some reason the post data we send to the page after we capture the navigation is different i.e. is not longer "Form Data". This causes the page to no longer redirect to the previous page. This bug is fixed: we now capture out-of-scope form submissions, but I opened 826161 to fix the post data issue.
