GWS SRP text shown under images carousel doesn't show after navigating to and back from an image

Project Member Reported by linds...@chromium.org, Nov 2 2017

Issue description

App Version: 64.0.3257.0
iOS Version: iOS11
Device: iPhoneX
URL: GWS SRP

Steps to reproduce:
  1. Tap on Dia de los Muertos doodle on NTP
  2. On SRP (notice you can see images and some text underneath them) tap on some of the images shown
  3. Tap toolbar back button

Observed results:
The text that was previously shown under the images is no longer visible. If you scroll down you can get it to show again but it shouldn't have disappeared. I was not able to repro this on Safari because they have a bottom bar that always blocks that text anyway, so I can't tell if it's happening there or not.

Expected results:
Text should show be fore and after navigating back.

Number of times you were able to reproduce: 5/5
Bug reproducible after clean install: Yes
Bug reproducible after clearing cache and cookies: Yes
Observed behavior in Chrome Mobile on Android: n/a
Check for similar behavior on Firefox/Safari: Safari: No
Bug reproducible on current stable build (App Version, iOS Version): I don't have a stable build on sim right now.
Bug reproducible on the current beta channel (dogfoody) build (App Version, iOS Version): I don't have a beta build on sim right now.

I noticed that the image carousel title text "Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead)" also disappears.

Can you repro that in Safari?
Yes you're right - actually I didn't see that, and that missing header is also missing in Safari:

I can't repro this on device (but of course I don't have an iPhone X). Can you repro in anything but sim iPhone X?

I'll bet this is an Apple bug, possibly a Simulator-only bug, but I can't inspect my sim iPhone X in Safari because of https://stackoverflow.com/questions/46685987/how-to-debug-iphone-x-simulator-from-safari
I can repro this on iPhone8 iOS11.0.3, actual device, as well.

Peter, could you please route this iPhone X bugs properly.

This is not iPhoneX only. In comment 4 you can see it repro's on iPhone8 Plus as well.

Thanks! Is this a regression? Can it be reproduced with Safari user agent?

Lindsay, could you please ask QA to test this bug with Safari User Agent and check if this is a regression.
Lindsay, please take a look at comment #10

Vinutha, can you please check Safari UA?
The doodle today, is a video. It opens the video in full screen mode on tapping it.Tapping back takes user to the ntp.

I will test this bug in safari tomm, when the doddle is different.
Vinutha, could you please check how Chrome works with Safari User Agent enabled in experimental settings.

I am going to close this bug for now, since we are unable to repro it.Will reopen if we come across a doodle on which the reproducibility is exactly the same.
@Eugene, Comment #2 says that this bug repro's in Safari. Is that the info you needed?
Sorry, I missed comment #2. If something is reproducible in Chrome and Safari I believe we should just file a GWS bug. crbug is probably optional in this case, because there is not much we (Chrome team) can do about GWS bugs.

GWS bug was untouched. This is not a Chrome bug and we should stop tracking it.
