Holding or quickly pressing backspace while "finding" to remove characters sometimes causes temporary system-wide freeze

Issue descriptionUserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Ubuntu Chromium/62.0.3202.62 Chrome/62.0.3202.62 Safari/537.36 Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. Navigate to a page (generally larger pages cause this more often) and enter text to search for 2. Without selecting the text in the find box, start deleting text What is the expected behavior? Text should be deleted with no (or little) discernible delay. What went wrong? The entire system froze for nearly two minutes, queuing input that all fired once the system unfroze. Audio continued playing. Did this work before? N/A Chrome version: 62.0.3202.62 Channel: n/a OS Version: Ubuntu 17.10 Flash Version: Doesn't happen all the time, but often enough to be a problem. If applicable, deleting text always seems to cause a short (<1 half-second) delay with the delay increasing based on the number of results found with the search.

Unable to reproduce the issue on Ubuntu 14.04 using chrome stable #62.0.3202.75 and latest dev #64.0.3253.3 Attached a screen cast for reference. Following are the steps followed to reproduce the issue. ------------ 1. Navigated to www.yahoo.com and searched for a word by entering text(Ctrl+f) 2. Without selecting the text in the find box, started deleting text. 3. Observed that the text got deleted with no delay as expected. Reporter@ - Could you please check the issue using latest dev #64.0.3253.3 by creating a new profile without any apps and extensions and please let us know if the issue still persist or not. Also please provide any other sample URL in which the issue was observed. Thanks...!!
