Goolge Search option neither works nor it re-directs to address bar for search when typed something from keyboard

Issue descriptionUserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.12; rv:56.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/56.0 Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. open chrome and type youtube.com 2. as it is taking time to load youtub click on X "stop loading this page" 3. now try typing anything on google search option which is in the middle of the page What is the expected behavior? 1]Either the option should take input from keyboard 2]It should show proper error if not taking input with what need to be done 3] The option itself should not be shown in such stop loading page operation. What went wrong? 1] I am not able to search anything now previously when clicked on the google search bar, it use to re-direct us to the address bar for search but its not happening now. Did this work before? N/A Chrome version: Version 61.0.3163.100 (Official Build) (64-bit) Channel: n/a OS Version: OS X 10.12 Flash Version:

Can reproduce on Linux, which means it's probably on all desktop OSes. Possibly related observation: When doing the same thing from a different page (e.g. google.com) instead of from the NTP, then the omnibox goes back to showing "google.com" instead of "youtube.com" when you cancel the page load. But when doing it from the NTP, it remains at "youtube.com".

Unable to reproduce this on stable 71.0.3578.98. Can you verify that this issue is still recurring?

Issue persists, I have re-tested it with build below, Google Chrome is up to date Version 71.0.3578.98 (Official Build) (64-bit) Attached is the screenshot. But one improvement that at least google search page becomes blank page after some time, so no search option on blank page.

Thanks for the feedback! This is most likely occurring when the page is half unloaded, which will render page elements unclickable (and eventually cleared after a few seconds). Leaving this open for now at reduced priority, but I suspect this is WontFix due to the new behavior. |
