Issue descriptionUserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/61.0.3163.100 Safari/537.36 Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. Load a webpage. 2. Open the Developer Tools. 3. Switch to the Elements tab. 4. Hover the mouse over an element. If you can see the main browser page, you'll see that that element gets highlighted which is OK. 5. Select/click that element. Point the mouse elsewhere and the element in the main browser page doesn't stay highlighted. What is the expected behavior? The corresponding element in the main browser page should remain highlighted if it is selected in the Elements tab. What went wrong? Highlighting of elements by selecting/clicking elements in the Developer Tools > Elements tab used to work in older Chrome versions. It was perfect in situations wherein the developer has to work with limited screen real estate but prefers to have the Developer tools window separate/undocked. Now, this no longer works. The mouse must remain hovering over the element in the Elements tab for it to be highlighted which makes it disappear after switching windows. Did this work before? Yes I'm not sure but it was still working in the latest version as of November, 2014 Chrome version: 61.0.3163.100 Channel: n/a OS Version: 10.0 Flash Version:

This is intentional so that the highlight doesn't obscure the element view. |
