The corresponding webpage element for the selected/clicked element in the Elements tab of the Developer Tools no longer stay highlighted after pointing the mouse elsewhere (ex., switching window).

Reported by ferdinan...@gmail.com, Oct 26 2017

Issue description

UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/61.0.3163.100 Safari/537.36

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Load a webpage.
2. Open the Developer Tools.
3. Switch to the Elements tab.
4. Hover the mouse over an element. If you can see the main browser page, you'll see that that element gets highlighted which is OK.
5. Select/click that element. Point the mouse elsewhere and the element in the main browser page doesn't stay highlighted.

What is the expected behavior?
The corresponding element in the main browser page should remain highlighted if it is selected in the Elements tab.

What went wrong?
Highlighting of elements by selecting/clicking elements in the Developer Tools > Elements tab used to work in older Chrome versions. It was perfect in situations wherein the developer has to work with limited screen real estate but prefers to have the Developer tools window separate/undocked.

Now, this no longer works. The mouse must remain hovering over the element in the Elements tab for it to be highlighted which makes it disappear after switching windows.

Did this work before? Yes I'm not sure but it was still working in the latest version as of November, 2014

Tested on latest Chrome Stable #62.0.3202.75, Canary #64.0.3251.0 and Chrome #50.0.2624.0 on Windows 10, Mac 10.12.6 and Ubuntu 14.04 and able to reproduce the issue.

This is a non-regression issue and able to reproduce from M-50 #50.0.2624.0. Marking it as untriaged so that issue gets addressed.

Attached the screenshot for reference.

Thanks.

This is intentional so that the highlight doesn't obscure the element view.
