Issue descriptionUserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/62.0.3202.62 Safari/537.36 Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. Open chrome://settings/passwords 2. Click any eye after a masked password 3. A Windows security dialog pops out to ask you input the password for Windows What is the expected behavior? You should be able to access your saved passwords by typing in your Windows password, use PIN, or fingerprint. What went wrong? When I type in my email/password, it always show "the user name or password is incorrect", even though I'm 100% sure it IS correct and is exactly the one I used to log into the OS; When I choose to use PIN or fingerprint, it says "the data area passed to a system call is too small". Did this work before? Yes Chrome version: 62.0.3202.62 Channel: stable OS Version: 10.0 Flash Version: There are multiple people reporting the same problem here: https://www.reddit.com/r/chrome/comments/72kqnx/cant_access_saved_passwords/

Could you please restart Chrome and tell us whether this is is still happening. We have pushed a new configuration and the expected behavior is the following: In Chrome 62: - viewing passwords by entering your Windows password is supposed to work (this was temporarily broken and should be fixed again). - viewing passwords by entering your PIN/fingerprint is not supposed to work (this did not work in previous versions of Chrome). In Chrome 63: - viewing passwords by entering your Windows password/Ping/fingerprint is supposed to work.

Just tested again in 62 (62.0.3202.62 (Official Build) beta (64-bit) (cohort: Beta)), after restarting the computer. Still have the problem with Windows password: it still shows "the user name or password is incorrect", while I triple-checked that they're correct. I also tried "more choices"->choose my active Windows Account->input the password only->still doesn't work. Didn't try PIN or fingerprint because according to your description they don't work with v62.

Re #8: Your screenshot is the newer version of the dialog, which I get in Chrome 63 and later (was your screenshot from v62, or from another build)? When you screenshotted this dialog, is this how it initially appeared, or did it only show the username box after you selected More Choices / Use a Different Account? Is your "username" a Microsoft Account (e.g. foo@live.com)? If so, this might be the bug fixed in Chrome 63: https://bugs.chromium.org/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=574581#c41

>was your screenshot from v62, or from another build This very screenshot is from V63 (Version 63.0.3239.18 (Official Build) beta (64-bit)), because Chrome automatically updated. HOWEVER, the dialog is always like this even when I was on 62 beta (when I made this bug, and tested it again a few days ago (Comment 5), I was indeed on 62 beta). >is this how it initially appeared, or did it only show the username box after you selected More Choices / Use a Different Account This is after I clicked "more choices". Initially it only have two blank "user" and "password" textareas. >this might be the bug fixed in Chrome 63 Yeah, sorry I didn't catch it, since I didn't notice it has been updated to v63. Just tested again, it's actually fixed now! So I can confirm it's fixed in v63 beta.

Just re-installed V62 stable (Version 62.0.3202.75 (Official Build) (64-bit)) and can confirm it has no bug and the behavior is same as hdodda's. I'd assume this bug was only short-lived on V62 *beta*, and has been fixed now. Feel free to close the ticket!
