Hitting the keyboard to wake a Pixelbook sometimes records a keyboard stroke in the password field

Project Member Reported by stevenjacobs@google.com, Oct 24 2017

Issue description

Chrome Version : 62.0.3202.67
OS Version: 9901.51.0

Other browsers tested:
Add OK or FAIL after other browsers where you have tested this issue:

  Firefox 4.x:
     IE 7/8/9:

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. When I am logging in from sleep, I often hit the spacebar (or some other keyboard key).

What is the expected result?

The computer wakes from sleep but does not register a keyboard stroke in the password field until after the display is on and showing the password field.

What happens instead of that?

Sometimes when I do this, it registers as the first entry in my password, and sometimes it does not.

Please provide any additional information below. Attach a screenshot if
possible.

The results are probably different depending on whether the system is in S0 (awake) with its screen off or in S3 (suspended).

I also wouldn't be surprised if different hardware behaves differently with regard to delivering keyboard events that cause the system to wake from S3.

To get a consistent user experience here, the lock screen would probably need to ignore keyboard events received while the screen is off.
