background gradiant currentColor not getting repainted when 'color' is changed

Steps to reproduce the problem:
Example: https://jsfiddle.net/hxy9emxx/

1. CSS ruel with a background linear gradiant and currentColor
2. Make color change on hover
3. currentColor does not update correctly

What is the expected behavior?
Underline should always be the same color of the text

What went wrong?
Underline and text are not the same color

Did this work before? No 

Does this work in other browsers? Yes

Chrome version: 62.0.3202.62 (Build officiel) (64 bits)  Channel: stable
OS Version: OS X 10.12
Flash Version: Shockwave Flash 23.0 r0

Confirmed on 63.0.3239.9 (Official Build) dev (64-bit). Hovering over the "Hover Me" link only changes colour of text, not underline. Hovering over "Another Link" seems to work fine. Requesting bisect.

Looking at [1], a similar fix might work? Even though the original fix was in LayoutObject, keeping this in Blink>CSS like the original bug.

Able to reproduce the issue on the reported chrome version stable 62.0.3202.62 and on the latest canary 64.0.3248.2 using Ubuntu 14.04, windows 10 and Mac 10.12.6. 

As the issue is seen from M50(50.0.2634.0) considering it as non-regression, hence marking it as untriaged.
