Site settings "cleared on next reload" |
|||||
Issue descriptionChrome Version: 63.0.3239.9 (Official Build) dev (64-bit) OS: Linux (but probably applies to all desktop) What steps will reproduce the problem? (1) Go to example.com (2) Trigger location popup by pasting "navigator.geolocation.getCurrentPosition(function(){})" into the JS console (3) Click the X in the top right corner of the popup (4) Click on the crosshairs (with red X) at the right edge of the URL bar What is the expected result? I'd suggest to phrase it positively: "This setting applies for the current page load." or "This settings applies until the next time the page is loaded." (or similar) What happens instead? It says "Settings will be cleared on next reload." which seems hard to understand. (Why is Chrome clearing my settings?) German translation is even worse: "Die Einstellungen werden bei der naechsten Aktualisierung geloescht."

Seems to be a UX problem. raymes@, do you know who is the string writer for permission related strings? Or which UX designer should be looped in?

We use the same string for the case when you've clicked "Allow" and then clicked "Clear these settings for future visits". I think things make more sense in that case. But I agree that in the exact case you describe the string isn't ideal.
