Security: Chrome issue

Reported by cainisfo...@gmail.com, Oct 23 2017

Issue description

Hi,

I have been facing an issue with Chrome the past few days. I'm unable to make Google my primary search engine.

When I click on the Menu and then on settings and it opens the Chorome settings page, i'm unable to change from the existing default search engine to Google.

Whenever I click on the Edit option, it doesn't open the edit page wherein I can enter the search engine of my choice. I have attached a screen cast of the bug in the report below. Please let me know if there is anything else that I need to do. Thank you!

Chrome Version: Version 62.0.3202.62 (Official Build) (64-bit)

Hi, unfortunately there isn't a great deal we can do to help, since this is a bug tracker for Chrome, and your problem is almost certainly malware or so-called "Unwanted Software" that is on your system interfering with your Chrome settings.

We do have a tool that attempts to deal with this software that tampers with Chrome settings, which you can try and see if it works:
https://www.google.com/chrome/cleanup-tool/

Failing that, Microsoft also provides a more general cleanup tool for Windows that can be effective at removing unwanted software:
https://www.microsoft.com/en-ca/download/malicious-software-removal-tool-details.aspx

There might be other options available if you look through support forums for discussions from people with similar issues.
