Ability to edit TTS pronunciation of specific words |
||||||||||||||||||||||
Issue descriptionOS: Chrome After speaking with some teachers at closing the Gap, they mentioned that when ChromeVox or Select to Speak are enabled, it would be really helpful to be able to highlight a specific word, pull up the context menu, and then have an option to adjust the TTS pronunciation of that word so that ChromeVox or Select to Speak can speak it aloud properly. This is particularly helpful for names. We would need to think through some design decisions here for how a user could spell the word more phonetically, hear it spoken aloud to confirm, then apply it across the full system. Just filing this request for now to keep track.

Maybe this should be part of system-wide TTS settings? Then ChromeVox and S2S could link to it, but we could have one place for a pronunciation dictionary.

This is something I think each individual engine should provide (as part of their engine specific system settings).
