Disabling the audio path when unused isn't a bad thing. It might be that the shutdown isn't clean though, we should check that we aren't introducing the "thud".

Disabling audio path maybe be a good thing but there should be some kind of delay. Like 10 minutes. This disabling happens in seconds. Moving from one video to another in YouTube triggers it. So does opening my Google calendar. Why would that be? For notifications? Please advise it's driving me nuts. Could be a real problem on a home theater for sure. *Larry Doolittle* <doolittle.larry@gmail.com> <https://www.facebook.com/larry.doolittle> <https://goo.gl/nqKfd> <http://www.twitter.com>

I went back to the Beta stream and my audio is doing the same thing. Starts when the audio stream is selected and stops when the stream ends with a loud thump. I need a delay or something. Thank you.

We keep the output device open for 10 more seconds after the audio stream is closed. Does the "thud" happen right after the audio playback is finished or after 10 seconds?

You are right. It is 10 seconds after the playback stops. I sure feels like right away to me but it is 10 seconds later but then when I select another item to playback it thumps again as the speakers are reconnected. Probably not a problem on a Chromebook but for a Chromebox it is a pain and for home theaters too I would guess. Thank you and please go back to the way it was. *Larry Doolittle* <doolittle.larry@gmail.com> <https://www.facebook.com/larry.doolittle> <https://goo.gl/nqKfd> <http://www.twitter.com>

Jimmy, do you remember any change was introduced 60 -> 61 that might make speakers thump?
