[TTS] Touch to Search doesn't work well on the new chrome://flags page |
||||
Issue descriptionThe redesigned chrome://flags from issue 622640 doesn't work well with Contextual Search -- a Tap gesture does not reliably highlight the word and the bar doesn't show when tapping in the section at the top of the page. It looks like some taps cause the highlight to briefly show and then hide again. Edward, any quick guesses as to what's going on before I start investigating (e.g. have a handler for selection events in the JS)? Also, please cc whomever tested the new page. Thanks!

I don't think this needs to be a release blocker since chrome://flags is really a development tool and not something we expect "real" users to use.

Is this the Chrome built in contextual search? I can't get contextual search to work at all on Canary for any site with the flag enabled. It's working on beta though. There is a touch handler on the experiment descriptions that allows you to expand the description.

Maybe you've turned it off -- check the Privacy setting under "Touch to Search". Also try using long-press. If it doesn't show for that, and you're connected to the network, and it's enabled in Settings/Privacy there's some kind of triggering bug so let me know! Testing with the latest version from Canary and everything seems to work fine now. edwardjung@ did you fix it?

I haven't pushed an update. Maybe it was fixed with earlier bug fixes. Side note, I still can't trigger it. + Canary - 64.0.3247 + Flag is on + privacy setting is on + Connected to network I only get the long press context menu. Anyway marking as won't fix. Reopen if you find it does't work |
